The Hoku Scientific Microloan Program

The Hoku Scientific Microloan Fund is a loan program for UH students who want to start a business or develop a proof-of-concept. Loans of up to $5,000 are available at a nominal interest rate for a term of one year. Up to $20,000 per semester will be awarded.

The program is sponsored by the College of Engineering, with administrative support provided by the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE) at the Shidler College of Business.

Priority for loans will be given to undergraduate students from engineering and entrepreneurship, however, all students at the UH Manoa will be considered.  Microloan recipients must be a classified University of Hawaii student during the entire loan period.  Proof of student status (copy of valid student id card or registration receipt) will be required with the application.

The Entrepreneurs Club (EC) Microloan Committee is responsible for selecting the loan recipients (with final approval by the Hoku Scientific Microloan Fund Board). The Committee will consist of club members from Business, Engineering, Science and other Departments in order to ensure that proper and relevant due diligence is done for loan applications.
