Oral Presentation Guide
Oral Presentations will be given on April 24, 2009 by all Semi-Final Teams
By entering the UH Business Plan Competition, participants agree to the following rules and guidelines.
Rules
- Each team must bring their PowerPoint presentation on a CD-rom or removable thumb-drive
- Teams must load their presentations during the load and test run time (Semi-final Schedule)
- Each team will have 10 minutes to present their plan using PowerPoint
- Only UH-registered student(s) may present the plan
- Upon completion of the presentation, the judges will conduct up to 10 minutes of question and answer
- Any member of the team may answer the judges’ questions
- Members of the audience may not ask questions or otherwise interact with the presenters or judges
Caution
- Teams may NOT adjust the slides at the event
- Teams may NOT set up their own laptop and projector. A computer and projector will be provided
- Teams may NOT observe other teams’ presentations
Recommendations
- Oral presentations should be based on the Executive Summary
- Use standard fonts in the slides, such as Times New Roman or Arial, which will be sure to work
- Refrain from using flash features that may not be compatible with the College’s computers
- Teams are advised to consider carefully whether or not to use video clips, which may not run on the College’s computers
- Backup copies of the presentation are highly recommended
Scoring
- The oral presentation score will be combined with the written plan score
- Finalists will be announced on the BPC web site following the conclusion of the Semi-Finals
Agreements
- All public sessions of the Competition are open to the public. Any data or information discussed in the presentation should be considered information that may enter the public realm
- Student entrants agree to allow the University of Hawaii and the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship & E-Business (PACE) to record all public sessions of the Competition. Entrants understand that recordings may be copied and distributed for the purpose of marketing the Competition in future years
- The judges’ decisions are final, and teams may not make appeals or complaints against the judges, organizers, sponsors, the College of Business, or the University of Hawaii
