I’m interested in more than one program. Do I need two applications?
Applicants who are interested in applying to two or more MBA programs need only fill out one application form and pay the one time application fee of $50. You will only to submit official transcripts once. Please be sure to indicate which programs you are applying to on the Application Checklist. However, other programs such as the Master of Accounting or Master of Human Resources Management are separate entities and require a unique application and fee.

I’ve completed my online application to Graduate Division. Now what?
Once you’ve completed your online application and submitted the $50 application fee you will need to submit all official transcripts from all post-secondary school institutions you have attended to Graduate Division Admissions. You will also need to submit official GMAT scores, professional resume, statement of objectives, and two letters of recommendation to the Office of Student Academic Services. Your application will only be considered complete when all of these items have been received.

I’ve just completed my application. What can I expect now?
Once the Office of Student Academic Services has received your complete application, your application will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee for admissions consideration. Once an admissions decision has been made you should receive an official letter from the University of Hawaii at Manoa Graduate Division Admissions office indicating the admissions decision.

Who can write my letters of recommendation?
Letters of recommendation can come from working professionals who have worked closely with you and can evaluate you honestly. You can print out a Letter of Recommendation cover sheet and provide that to your recommender. Generally, applicants submit letters of recommendation from current or former professional superiors and academic professors or advisors.

Where do I take the GMAT?
You will need to register online at www.mba.com and schedule an appointment to take the GMAT. GMAT tests are offered at various testing centers throughout the world.

How do I study for the GMAT?
Most applicants will purchase a GMAT study guide, available at any major bookstore. In addition, the University of Hawaii at Manoa Outreach College offers GMAT prep courses throughout the year. Finally, applicant may also want to consider contacting local testing service centers for GMAT prep course availability.

Is there an admissions interview?
Yes. Once your application is complete and forwarded to the Admissions Committee, one of our Shidler College of Business staff will contact you to set up an interview appointment. Interviews may be conducted in person or over the phone. Please be sure to provide a current contact phone number and email address on your application so we may reach you to set up an interview appointment.

How do I know when my application is complete?
The Office of Student Academic Services will be in touch with you on a regular basis to keep you up to date on application materials that have been received. Once all required applications materials have been submitted, our office will notify you that your application is ready to be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Generally it will take one to two weeks for an admissions decision to be made.

Can I take graduate business courses before I am admitted to a Shidler College of Business graduate program?
Students may apply to take up to lifetime maximum of six credits of graduate business electives (600-level). All course prerequisites must be met. Students may apply by completing a Post-Baccalaureate Unclassified Student Application form and submitting unofficial transcripts indicating a minimum GPA of 3.0 in final 60 credits of course work, current resume indicating two years of post-baccalaureate work experience, and GMAT scores (if test scores are available). If approved, applicants may enroll in electives with open seat availability on the fifth day of instruction. Applications are available in B101.

Does the College provide internship opportunities?
Yes, the College provides current Shidler College of Business graduate students with internship opportunities where students can earn both professional experience and academic credit. Students should set up an appointment with an advisor from the Office of Internships and Career Development to discuss the many opportunities available.

What student academic advising services are available?
The Office of Student Academic Services offers academic advising for prospective and current students. Students are encouraged to schedule an appointment to discuss their academic progress throughout their duration of study at the Shidler College of Business.
